NEO Tele says cycling can be a powerful tool to engage communities and prevent crime, violence and potentially drug use among the youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a remarkable display of determination, the 17-year-old from Mamelodi participated in the legendary Race to the Sun. A 160km gravel cycling challenge from Hartbeespoort Dam to the iconic Sun City which took place on Saturday, 17 May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He started cycling when he was 9 years old. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The physical activity can be effective in promoting wellbeing and health, improve the cognitive functions and academic outcomes of young people,”said the young racer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neo said he wanted to keep busy and avoid the streets. When he was introduced to cycling, he felt in love with it and never looked back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

William Majapholo from Gauteng was thrilled to had made it to the finish line. William found the route very hard saying it was harder than the previous year. “I love cycling for the many opportunities it has to offer. The was fun still and I am definitely doing it again. it challenged every cyclist\u2019s inner adventurer.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jan Montshiwa from Mpumalanga also found the route very challenging. He said it was hard but he had fun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the tough conditions the elite riders Marc Pritzen, Jaco van Dyk as well as Jan Withaar claimed top three. Pritzen takes back-to-back wins, crossing the line solo in a time of 04:30:11. Behind him, Jaco van Dyk edged out Jan Withaar to take second in 04:37:18 with Jan just one second behind in 04:37:19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sun City’s General Manager Brett Hopp\u00e9 who also took part was extremely excited to had crossed the finish thought he found the climes difficult. He said the event is an economic and tourism boost to local townships and the province at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are thrilled to host the event, Sun City has all the resources available to make the race a success. The different with this race is that people stay for entertainment and racers have the option of bringing their family along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sun City always has something for everyone. People can check out variety of events in 2025, including music concerts, cultural festivals, and family entertainment,” said Hopp\u00e9<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organiser, Jp Nortje said the focus this year was client engagement and participant experience. He said the important aspect is also community involvement which made it effort into the experience such easy. Nortje gave a big shout out to all the sponsors for opening many doors for the extraordinary event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
