A shocking incident has sent shockwaves through the community of Seraleng, near Rustenburg, where a mother is alleged to have killed and buried her 20-year-old daughter in the yard. 

After digging that took place on Thursday,  the remains were discovered in yard. 

The mother is expected to make a court appearance on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Neighbors expressed shock and concern, revealing that they hadn’t seen the child since June. They claimed the mother had been providing various explanations, telling them the child was either visiting or staying with her father.

A family member, who wished to remain anonymous, shed more light on the circumstances that led to the discovery. According to the family member, relatives visited the home after becoming concerned about the child’s prolonged absence. The mother remained tight-lipped about the child’s whereabouts, sparking further suspicion.

The family member revealed that one of the relatives, believed to be spiritually gifted, sensed that something was amiss and claimed to feel the presence of the child’s remains in the yard. This led the family to contact the police, leading to the discovery of the alleged crime.

The community is in a state of shock and disbelief, struggling to come to terms with the alleged murder. 

Police spokesperson Colonel Adele myburgh said that an official statement will be issued in due course.
