THE third suspect implicated in the murder of prominent North West businessman Ben Gumbi appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday, October 17.
The case was postponed to October 29 for a bail application, as the defense attorney requested time to consult with their client.
Zimele Mntuyazi Nkwanyana allegedly received R25,000 for his involvement in Gumbi’s murder. It’s worth noting that the suspect has a prior conviction for robbery and is currently out on parole.
The court is expected to hear the bail application on October 29, where the prosecution will likely oppose them request given the severity of the crime. Gumbi’s family and the community are eagerly awaiting justice, following the life sentences handed down to two co-accused, Sibongiseni Ngubane and Thabani Gwala, in October.
The investigation into Gumbi’s murder has seen significant progress, with the police working closely with the prosecution to bring perpetrators to justice. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat violent crime in South Africa.
The case was postponed to 29 October for consultation.
