THE Moretele community is mourning the loss of one of its oldest and most respected elders, koko Elizabeth Setshedi who died on 8 May.Setshedi died in Slagboom, North West were she grew up and has lived her whole life.
She will be buried on 17 May. Setshedi’s ID book lists her date of birth as July 16, 1903, making her 122 years old.
Koko Setshedi was a beneficiary of an RDP house from Bojanala Platinum District Municipality. Setshedi outlived her husband and eight of her 12 children.
The family have not kept track of the number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Koko had a wish to meet President Ramaphosa before she died. She couldn’t see but wished she could shake his hand and feel his presence.
Alex Setshedi, the deceased’s son said they were blessed to had lived with their mother this long. He said they gogo Elizabeth was talkative and loved by people.”She died peacefully and happy as she had received her RDP house which was also one of her wishes.”
