The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the North West Province today officially marked the re-establishment of the Ledig Police Station, a major milestone that paves the way for the construction of a new police station to serve the Ledig community.

The ceremony, held on Friday, 24 July 2026, at the Ledig Community Hall near Sun City, was attended by the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the North West Province, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, alongside representatives from National Supply Chain Management, Provincial Management, the Bakubung Ba Ratheo Traditional Council, the Department of Rural Development, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), and community members. The re-establishment follows the Bakubung Ba Ratheo Traditional Council’s allocation of land to SAPS for the construction of the new Ledig Police Station. Once completed, the facility will bring policing services closer to residents, improve access to police assistance, enhance visibility, and strengthen crime prevention efforts within the Ledig policing precinct.

The project represents a significant step towards improving service delivery and reinforcing the partnership between SAPS, traditional leadership, and the Ledig community in building a safer environment for all.
